Japanese Tea Ceremony

As a Junior Girl Scout Leader my daughters and I (including our Troop and 2 other Troops) participated in a Japanese Tea Ceremony today. We were even able to try on Kimonos.

Everyone had a turn making green tea and serving it and also had the opportunity to receive the tea and taste it.. I am still waiting on some more photos to make it my way... I was not the one taking photos today but I did lend out my camera... So far now here are some pictures of my oldest daughter Amanda participating in the ceremonies. This event was held in Kawasaki with our Japanese Sister Troop. They were wonderful hosts and I look forward to returning next year..

It's Snowing!

We wished for it and wished and now that it is here I wish it wasn't.. LOL

I have just been so cold lately and DH is always hot it is a fight to have the heater on in the house, in the military unit we live in every room has its own switch to turn on the heater.. So usually I stay in a separate room from DH so I can crank the heater up, because even in socks, sweats and a long sleeve shirt I am still cold..

Now with the snow (even though we all want to play in it) ughhh hopefully we will not have to sell cookies in it.... I am colder with the snow here, maybe my girls should stop opening the window and sliding door to see the snow..?

I live in (we call them Towers) and as my DH says "I am like a Princess (or her Cousin) I live in the farthest Tower on 2nd Highest Floor" So these pictures were taken between 630-725am this morning and they are shots looking down from my building from my daughters bedroom window. We live on the 8th floor out of 9.

A New Sketch

Ok.. So I was playing around with some of the sketches I have made previously and decided to put it together and post it on my blog..

I left my job over a year ago and became a SAHM, while on my downtime at work I would doodle sketches and what nots for ideas of cards, layouts and everything else that I do.. So this is where these ideas/sketches are coming from.. Of course I am still a beginner crafter so bare with me..

Here is another card that Cindy made from the 2nd sketch...

A New Sketch

Yahoo 9

Ok First off let me just say that I do not work for Yahoo, nor do I receive any royalties or any compensation for posting this.

Being a Military Wife and stationed Overseas it can be hard on the family to call you unless they have a really good phone plan. Well not anymore.. My DH discovered that with Yahoo 9 Voice (i think) we could sign up for a stateside telephone number and have it ring to our house or a cell phone instead of having to be on the computer talking like Vonage (of what I have heard I have never tried Vonage) and the previous Yahoo Voice we had. The cost for this phone service is $30.00 per year and the best part is it is a local call for your family so all they have to do now is figure out the time zone difference and stop calling you at 1am..

We had a previous stateside number but we had to be on the Computer with a headset to answer the phone and we could even call directly from the computer to the family in the States, not sure what the rate breaks down to but we talk alot and it takes forever to use up our $15.00 that we put on there at a time...

If you happen to be Military and Overseas check it out..

My Finished Card

Well the Laundry is done (gasp!) the floor has been swept now don't faint I even made dinner.. Amazing I pried myself away from the computer and I did not get the shakes (withdrawals) or anything.

Very interesting, must not let DH know or he might want me to do more around the house.. LOL

I cleaned my craft room up also, I do need to go back in there and make a mess tomorrow as well as sweep up the little mess I made tonight but other than that as is well.

I used the sketch with the squares and photo corners and do you know what I just realized I forgot the photo corners what is wrong with me? I will make another card tomorrow for now you can check out this card.. (laughs at self)

When I made this card I was thinking of my favorite color green, I started out working with a Bella Stamp than just stashed that image away for later use and started anew. All pieces on the front is scraps of paper I had left over from previous cuts.
The Sentiment " You're In My Heart" is adhered to the black paper using a foam adhesive giving it a little dimension.

Closer view of the Sentiment

Silver Brads
Scrap papers from my stash ( Ziploc baggie) (so that is why I am not sure who made the paper)

My Card from Sketch 1

Hello Everyone...

Well today I said forget the housework (much like I do everyday so I can be here on the computer) but instead of the computer I made a card.. WOW! It has been a while.. I must organize my scrap room today! Everything is everywhere like always.. First things first I have to take care of the floors they are just icky...

Before I get carried away on the subject of unclean things in my house, let me tell you why I am here... Oh yes I made a card, a card from the sketch that I posted for the challenge to earn the Blog Candy...

I did two variations... One with a flourish in the corner and some bling and the other with out corner adornment.. I don't know if you can tell but the circle, scallop and smaller circle are all on pop up adhesive to give the look some depth.. I really like how they both turned out.

This Past Weekend.. WOW!

My Girl Scout Troop officially kicked off our Cookie Sales on Friday at the School. Saturday afternoon it was gray and dreary and raining, it was also our first booth sales, thankfully we were allowed to sell the cookies inside the food court. Sunday morning the day was overcast, thankfully there was no rain however it was cold cold cold, we thought we were going to end up standing there selling cookies while it snowed it was so cold. Thankfully no snow. So we bundled up as much as we could and kept hot drinks in our hands to stay warm...

That was my weekend, selling Girl Scout Cookies in the cold, wet, rainy weather..

Thin Mints: The most enduring and universally familiar Girl Scout cookie. These round, mint-flavored cookies covered with dark chocolate perennially sell the most boxes of any cookie. Thin Mints have never changed their name. Little Brownie Bakers and ABC Bakers both make Thin Mints.
Do-Si-Dos® or Peanut Butter Sandwich: A sandwich cookie. The round, bumpy perforated oatmeal cookie top and bottom surrounds a peanut butter-flavored layer inside. Do-Si-Dos® (formerly Gauchos) are baked by Little Brownie Bakers. ABC Bakers calls them Peanut Butter Sandwiches.
Trefoils or Shortbread: These shortbread cookies are shaped like the Girl Scout Trefoil design. Scot Teas were a similar, lighter sugar cookie made by the now defunct Burry. These cookies come in a blue box. Little Brownie Bakers calls them Trefoils; ABC Bakers call them Shortbread.
Tagalongs® or Peanut Butter Patties®: These are round cookies with a layer of peanut butter on top, and covered in chocolate. These cookies come in a red box. Little Brownie Bakers calls them Tagalongs®; ABC Bakers call them Peanut Butter Patties®.
Samoas® or Caramel deLites®: These are round doughnut-shaped cookies about two inches in diameter with a hole in the center, covered in caramel and toasted coconut, and then striped with chocolate. Samoas® are made by Little Brownie Bakers. The ABC version is called Caramel deLites®.
Thanks-A-Lot™: A shortbread cookie with a layer of fudge on the bottom and the words "Thank You" in English, French, Chinese, Swahili or Spanish embossed on the top. Thanks-A- Lots™ have been made by ABC Bakers since 2006 and were preceded by a similar cookie called the Animal Treasure.
Cinna-Spins™: New for 2007, Cinna-Spins™ make it easy to snack smart by doing the calorie counting for you! Each carton contains five ready-to-grab-and-go 100 calorie packs full of crispy cinnamon swirls; they are made by ABC Bakers.
Lemonades™: Introduced in 2006, these shortbread cookies are stamped in the shape of a sliced lemon with a tangy lemon icing. They are made by ABC Bakers and replace the Lemon Pastry Creme.

Here is a Recipe using Tagalong Cookies (Peanut Butter Patties)
CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER PARFAIT:
Filling:
6 individual Soufflé dishes, buttered and lined with wax paper on all sides

8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
4 tbsp. butter, softened
¼ cup sugar
½ tsp. vanilla
2 boxes Tagalong cookies
2 ½ cups whipping cream
2 tbsp. confectioner’s sugar
½ cup smooth peanut butterchocolate shavings for garnish

Melt chocolate with 2 tbsp. butter in top of double boiler. While chocolate in melting, prepare crust for parfait. CRUST: Finely grind 1-½ boxes of Tagalong cookies. Divide mixture evenly between six prepared molds. Gently pat down cookie mixture to form bottom crust of parfait.
