For me it would seem that having a job is hazardous to my health and my ego..LOL.. 1. I face planted walking down the stairs, no one saw though so I'm good right? 2. A plastic shelving unit smacked me in the face and cut my above the lip 3. wrapping example from the wall I wa getting it down to do a christmas example and knocked evreything on the shelf down like a domino effect (I think I even chipped the shelf..) 4. I've locked up the computers 5. packed a receipt in a box.(LOL) 6. forgotten to give a card with a flower delivery 7. tripped and hit a wall after a flower delivery
is that enough? I am sure there is more, but thought I'd give everyone a luagh today. It is some funny stuff. I don't know if it's nerves or what but I really haven't been this accident prone since Junior High.
Have a great day!

My life.
My day so far today...
530am, Amanda wake up its 530... Amanda gets up I crawl back into bed and sink low in my covers and go back to sleep.
Amanda is my oldest and goes to Middle school on a different base so she has to ride the bus, she catches the bus at 630..
The doorbell rings, I have no clue what time it is as I don't have my glasses on.. Amanda - Mom the door..Amanda I fumble for my cell phone its 625 in the morning I'm sure the doors for you..Mom she asked for you.. I drag my sleeping non wearing a bra messy head morning breath self out of bed don't grab my glasses and head to the front door. who could be here for me at 625 in the morning.. my thoughts run to my husband being ill, my car lights being on etc etc..
I go to the door noticing my laundry room door that is right next to the front door is open (I hate it being open because my laundry room is ALWAYS a mess). There's some lady who I assume is also in her pajamas, I can't really tell without my glasses..
she says umm..I live just below you and I hate to ask this but I just got back from a long trip and there's always noise like banging and stuff coming from up here and like I'm really just got back from this long and I hate to ask but you could please keep the noise level down.. (or something to that effect)
I just stand there trying to process what she has just said, it's 630 in the morning, my daughter hasn't been loud at all, as a matter of fact she has been the quietest ever.. I'm tired, having been asked from my sleep which I desperately need to go to the door and listen to someone complain about the noise level from my house... so I say umm sure yeah..and close my door.
Here is the thing about this particular Military Housing I live in.. it is 9 stories of I guess you can call them apartments.. I live on the 8th floor, I have lived here for 5 years and NEVER had a noise complaint except from our next door neighbors once, that is when we had our TV on the common wall..it would shake theirs because of the bass.. Anywho.. so later today I am going to go this woman's house and ask what noise she hears when is it the noisiest etc etc.. to try and figure out what she is hearing to make her come all the way up to ask me to be quiet.. I have never asked anyone to quiet down. This is close living quarters everyone has a different schedule.. There are the people above who seem to lift weights at like 500am in the morning, or their daughter who plays 2 instruments at 9 sometimes 10 at night, I can even tell when she is wearing heels because it clicks on my ceiling wherever she walks..LOL But I have never ever once asked them to be quiet, it's something I have learned to accept. Is she asking too much my downstairs compadre, I don't know.
Honestly it depends in my opinion on where the noise is coming from and what noise she is hearing. Is it the microwave door, the laundry room door, do my daughters just walk heavy, are we purposefully slamming things around and making noise...no.. are we being too loud, maybe sometimes and I will take that into consideration..did I need to be told at 630 in the morning when I am groggy and full of sleep..I think not.
Ahh the joys of military housing and apartments.

My Job
I forget how busy I feel when I am gainfully employed.. LOL It has been 3 years since I left my previous job as a Navy Lodge Supervisor, 3 years since my brother in law passed away. It seems like only yesterday, the hurt from his passing is not as fresh and the pain has dulled. The girls often talk about Peaches and what they did with him and when we lived at his and Adriens house, such joy the have from their memories and that is something I am very thankful for..
This post is not about that though, this post is suppose to be about my new job. Geesh, after 3 years of not working a 9-5 job (I guess you could say) I had forgotten how much time away from home and the kids a job takes away from you. I work most days from 10am - 6pm so I am able to get my girls off to school in the morning and if I time my break just right I can spend an hour with them after school (230-330) which leaves them at home for 2.5 hours to work on their homework and chores.. Needless to say but I am going to anyways, my 230-330 break time does not always pan out like I want it to. For example today I will be spding my break earlier and going to the Uniform shop to get the items my husband needs as well as packing a box with said items and mailing it to him on the ship because he forgot them. I will also be mailing my notebook swap, paying a phone bill and hopefully getting something to eat in between that time..
Working.. hmm I have had a home based business for a while, but as it wasn't really bringing in any extra income I took this new job and well while extra money is good is it worth it to lose the time with my family? I spend so much time after work arguing with the kids to pick up this and or that and staying up past their bedtime to work on homework they haven't finished that I am thinking possibly that being employed right now may not be the best time. Then when would be a good time? I'm in my early thirties my daughters are 12 & 10, in 10 more years I'll be in 40's and that will be a large span between employment, even 3 years seems to take people by surprise and I was actually passed on a position I believe because they did not like my reasoning for not being employed for the past 3 years.
My job is great the people I am around all day are fun people, the job isn't too bad there is alot to do but at least you stay busy (I always feel guilty for just standing around doing nothing) so I am always dusting or cleaning windows. I guess I need to figure out for myself do we need the extra income? and if we do is it a fair trade off to lose that time with my family?

Cricut Cartridges Used: Indie Art, Hannah Montana
Stamps: Artful Inkables, Sassy Studio Digi Images. CTMH
Embellishments: Brads, Ribbon, Pearls, Paint, Paper Flowers Chipboard, Strawberries
You will notice in the book that some of the images are not colored in, well I left that for my recipient to do so that she could add her own flare. On the last skull image I left as a note box or doodling area on the page.

I really hope my swap partner likes her book.. I altered about between 15 & 19 inside pages, Plus the Front & Back Cover & The Fron & Back Cover Inside the book..
Thanks for looking!

Birthday Invitations - Spongebob
My friend asked me to make some Birthday Invitations for her sons 8th Birthday due to out Exchange having slim pickins on invitations, I agreed.. Yippee! I was super excited and thought and searched and finally came up with a plan, talked with her soon to be 8 year old son and he liked the idea.. but....
I had high hopes for these invitations, I really wanted to use my new Spongebob Cartridge and cut them with the Cricut and stuff. Unfortunately I have not found a balance between work, sleep and free time.. Considering I do NOT have 2 days off in a row, which kind of sucks! (I work 5 days a week with split days off) My plans were big, with hand cut waves for water as it is a pool party spongebob layered on the card and a beach ball in the middle .. it looked great in my mind. Unfortunately I just did not find that kind of time.
Don't get me wrong I still really like these invites, they look really good but you know when you have a plan for soemthing and then you find you can't accomplish it you get kind of bummed. That is me right now..

First day on the job..
well I had my first day on the job today and it went pretty good. There is alot of information that was given to me and I made several transactions. I am working for the NEX at Personalized Services.
Personalized Services is responsible for the following:
Gift Cards
Phone Cards
Western Union
UPS
FOREX
Hot Locker Storage Units
Gift Wrapping
Packing for Mailing
Floral Arrangements
Magazines
Books
Cards
Balloons
Invitations
NAF Atsugi souvenirs
Knick Knacks
Baskets & Vases
Engraving
Embroidery
Business Cards
Name Tags
etc etc etc
The only I think I didn't put a toe in is the Floral part. I rang up transactions made several western union payments, packed items, dusted, arranged, and price checked items..
So after work I have to go looking for my kiddos so we can have dinner because I am off 2 hours earlier than I thought I would be and they are not answering their cell phones. After 30 minutes I give up and go home to check the answering machine. Ms. Amanda has a babysitting that started 3 hours earlier than she originally thought. Catie sue walks in the door and says she has Bible Study to go to (which doesn't start until 745pm and it's only 6pm), I inform miss thang that I am going to dinner she can go or stay.. Of course she for some unknown reason goes and glams herself up a bit.. LOL then we go out to dinner.. Yummy Friday Night Mongolian BBQ, delicious.. when I get home 730pm, no messages and turns out Bible study was cancelled tonight. I had given little miss thang my cell phone so she could call me when bible study was/is over. as I am surfing the net checking my emails, sending emails for our Girl Scout event Sunday the cell phone rings, and we don't get to it in time.. it is a non supported number, which means it is someone calling from the base.. so I scroll through my caller id to see who has called while I was at dinner..low and behold personalized services.. so now I am wondering.. did I do something wrong, was that them on the cell, do I have to work this weekend after all? not knowing suks... I tried calling them but hey close at 7pm so no one answers..ughhg I am not going to sleep well until I know why they were calling me.. ok..my whining is over and so is my story book.. if you read to the end.. you are a brave soul..

No Longer Super Typhoon
Well according to the Typhoon meeting there will be no school tomorrow for the kiddos and I do believe this is the first time in 5 years that I have lived here that they have canceled school for Typhoon which now has me worried and a little itchy to get to the commissary and get some of the supplies they recommend having on hand. Hmm.. The kids of course are thrilled that they don't have to go to school. Caitlin asked me today what do we do for a Typhoon like in an Earthquake you have to get under your desk at school, so we chatted about making sure the patio is clear of things that will crash through the sliding glass door because of winds and stuff. So I may not be able to post tomorrow but even if I have to craft by candle light or flashlight I will do that to keep myself busy.
The following are notes from NAF typhoon meeting held by NAF CO, XO, departments, and tenants;
* Storm has down graded to typhoon strength vice super typhoon strength.
* Wednesday, 07 OCT will be a normal work day and all base services will be open. Forcasted to be rainy, but no winds. Some base services will have extended hours to accommodate last minute preparations (Auto Port,Commissary). Please take this time to ensure you have adequate supplies on hand. Expect to go into TYCOR 1 at 2100 Wednesday night.
* Thursday, 08 OCT, as per NAF CO, all base services and DODDs schools will be closed. Only "essential personnel" as designated by each command will report to work."Essential Personnel" need to be in place by 0700 Thursday morning.
Base gates will close during TYCOR 1 EMERGENCY which is when the winds exceed 50 knots. As of now, the NAF Galley will try to remain open through out the storm.
* Friday, 09 OCT will be a normal work day & clean up.
- Thursday's forecast has the onset of strong winds starting at approximately 0900 in the morning. Expect 45-50 knots, with gusts to 65 knots most of the day. Heavy rain, 6-10 inches is expected. The heavy
rains and flooding on the base will be the most dangerous aspect of this storm.

World Card Making Day
So he is gone for a while.. I was creating today after I cleaned and found the perfect place to stage a crafting area. Woohoo! My dining room, we never eat at the table, the girls like to sit at the counter and we use TV trays or me I stand in the kitchen and eat, it has become a hbit for osme reason.
So for World Card Making Day I made these wonderful Halloween cards. I purchased the Eerie Card Kit by Basic Grey from Memory-Works SKU: BG236. You can view my Consultants Blog and information HERE.
I also used Eerie Rub Ons SKU: BG227, and Eerie Buttons SKU: BG228
This Card also uses a Sweet Treat Cup from Stampin Up!
I love the BG Eerie Paper and hopefully tomorrow I will have similar cards using my Cricut for you!
