Merry Merry Merry

I love making Christmas cards with scraps and stamps.
I try to have a handful of cards ready for various neighbors and co-workers just in case I am in need.
I created this card using the October Afternoon Christmas line from last year (would you believe I bought a ton of it and didn't use it? shame on me!) and the Ippity stamp set "Season of Joy".
It's a simple card that could easily be mass produced or just use the "Merry Merry" part and attach it to a tag. So many options for cards and tags. I hope I've inspired you to grab some ink and paper and create away this holiday season, and don't forget the Christmas music (I'm loving the She & Him Christmas Album these days!)

Make the Most of It Monday

Happy Cyber Monday!

 

Sherri here to share with you a couple of easy ideas to make the most of your leftovers.  Not Thanksgiving leftovers (although you may have lots of those, too!)  No, I'm talking about kit leftovers.  For me, it's usually little scraps of paper and die-cuts.  Because I am mostly a cardmaker, I always seem to have lots of journaling tags and die-cuts leftover from my kits.  I have two holiday cards to share using tags and journaling spots:

 

This first card uses a printed tag, embellished with gems, as a spot for my sentiment.  The tan snowflake paper is also leftover from a calendar kit.  Bonus!  I have used two different Christmas stamp sets from {ippity}: "Season of Joy" and "Kissmas and Mistletoe".

 

My second card uses a journaling spot, leftover from a Christmas scrapbook kit.  I added a snowy house cut on my Cricut, and the card base is also a from my Cricut.  I love the die-cut edge!

Make the Most of It Monday

Happy Monday, everyone!  Sherri here-getting in a quick share before we start our Thanksgiving break tomorrow. :)

 

Today's card features a panel where I have stamped the background-but with a gorgeous floral stamp, not a background stamp!  It's a great way to get a bit more mileage from your favorite stamps.

 

 

{ippity}'s "Now & Always" stamp set includes both the solid flower image (used on the bottom panel) and the coordinating open flower image (used on the label).  I love that they compliment each other so well!  The bottom panel is made by stamping the green flower first, then masking it before stamping the red and blue flowers.  I used some rich Distress Ink colors, too, which look great with the kraft cardstock.

 

This technique looks great on patterned paper, too!  Check out this card where I used the same floral stamp to create an elegant floral border on grid paper:

Wednesday Wowzer Time

I made it, not even late!

I was inspired, today, since I saw an old friend, sort of, today, and I hope that I will see her again tomorrow to give this to her.

I manage a small gym in my very small town and I have not seen this one lady,that I adore, in awhile because **GASP** she has been going elsewhere for her workouts!  I know small town scandals, I could tell you a few! Any how, I saw her today but just missed her, so I'm hoping tomorrow I can catch her and give this to her.  She is the epitome of STYLE and this card is especially for her!

I have used the Love in an Instant - KOM May 2012 set for this card.

For the sentiment I have done one of my favorite things which is to just cut and piece phrases from ones I like to come up with a phrase that suites my needs.

I had the pewter charm that says

"be yourself", which fit this card perfectly.

Make the Most of It Monday

Good morning, all!  This is Sherri, and I'm here to share a happy little card made with my current favorite color combo and some adorable {ippity} stamps.

I am also going to show you a fun little way to use your photo corner stamps in a new way: as a border!

 

 

I used a photo corner from {ippity}'s "Fall for You" set.  This set has 3 different photo corners-love them all!  I stamped the plaid one on patterned paper 7 times, then trimmed them and layered them to create this quirky little border.  Trimming the scalloped border off the image looks great, as I did on this card-and would make it a great border for a guy card.  You could also leave the scalloped border on for a delicate look-perfect for a baby card!  (The wheels are turning right now as I think about all of the possibilities!)

 

I also used the sweet birdie image from "Your Friendship, My Cup of Tea" and the music background from "Gingham Christmas Greetings."

Thankful this Thursday

Today's post, you will not read any complaints from me.

I have made some Thank-you cards to hand out to some dear friends who have touched my heart.

For that reason, this will be a thankful post and I hope to get through this with no complaining whatsoever.

I made 4 cards, they are all somewhat similar, with slight variations.

They all have this sentiment inside.

The first part is a stamps from the Unity May 2012 Love in an Instant set.

The 2nd part is just words I printed out from my computer.

It was my birthday on Sunday and I had some friends who went over and above their call of duty in recognizing that it was my birthday. So these cards are for those friends who I wanted to say thank you to.

Each card is different, in the way the borders are done.

Some have patterned paper, 

some have washi tape and some have border stickers.

Here they are all lined up.

I love making a group of cards together.

Its a great way to get a lot of people takes care of at one time, and by just mixing your embellishments, you can easily make each card unique so they do not end up looking exactly the same.

So did I make it with out complaining?  I hope so!!

I am so excited to share with you a new weekly feature here on the I Heart {ippity} blog-

Make the Most of It Mondays!

 

Every Monday, I will be sharing ways to "make the most of" your scrappy supplies.

Whether it's finding different ways to use your favorite {ippity} stamps or stretching your consumable supplies (such as that amazing paper you've been saving), I hope to

inspire you without breaking your scrapping budget!

 

Today, I am sharing four completely different projects

that use patterned paper strips in creative ways. 

 

 

Here, I layered 1/2" strips directly to my card base, then used foam tape to adhere a 3/4" strip, too.  These strips grounded my stamped flowers so they weren't just "floating".  Flower images are from Flowers+Friends=Priceless; sentiment from Just Wanted to Say.

 

I really love the way these curled paper strips give such great dimension to the top of this gift box.  They are so easy to make!  Just wrap a 1/4 strip of patterned paper around a pencil to form the curl.  You get the effect of curling ribbon, but the gorgeous color and design of patterned paper!

 

Now for some Christmas projects. :)

I adhered 1/2" strips of patterned paper to a piece of scrap cardstock, then die cut the label shape.  Don't forget that some papers that have bar code strips on them have a coordinating design on the reverse of the bar code-more bang for your buck!  The rickrack strip and the "Hand picked for you by
Santa" strip were both on the backs of bar codes. 

Don't you love the little paper-pieced gift?  It is actually the gift on the VW bus from Feeling Groovy!  I simply used only the gift and bow from the image.

 

Finally, you can create a fun, colorful card base with strips.  My patterns were a bit busy, so I made a neutral focal point out of kraft cardstock and the cute little Santa from Naughty, Nice, Not Sure.

 

I hope I have inspired you to start using up those paper strips in your stash!

Glass Etching for the Holidays

I found this WONDERFUL Acorn stencil @ AC Moore

I taped the stencil to the glass doing my best to remove any air bubbles

I then grabbed a foam brush and my

Armour Etch All and followed the directions on the

Jar of Armour Etch

This was the result! Love it! I will fill these vases with colored stones

and or flowers for 

our Thanksgiving Table

Now you don't have to buy a stencil you COULD

create your own with stencil paper, vinyl etc

using the Cricut or the Silhouette
