Headache & Picture

Amanda
My DH in the middle (1994)

Caitlin

I have such a headache today... but other than that the weather was wonderful today, the girls and I took a trip to the post office and to McDonalds for a refund due to an unfortunate finding the night before. Caitlin is hungry 24/7 which means a growth spurt is coming, she goes through the same thing everytime before she shoots up and her jeans look like she is waiting for a flood.

Weather

Last night I shut my computer off and the girls and I prepared for our electricity going out, which thankfully it did not.. We did lose some cable channels though..
We had a nice thunder and lightening storm last night, it was super close.. The girls were scared and jumping up at the loud thunder and cuddling under blankets when the lightening flashed..This went on maybe half an hour and then the storm finally started moving on..

Turns out we are in Tropical Storm watch (possible typhoon) so this morning I woke up to a gray day so bleak and blahhh.. then around 1100am it started drizzling and then pouring down buckets of rain luckily no lightening some thunder but not as loud as last night.. It looked like there was a big dust cloud outside so murky... ughghgh finally that too passed.. I am thankful for the rain as it has cooled outside down a bit.. being here in Japan with 94% humidity ughghgh

My Disorganized Scrap Area

Whew! I was in there for 10 minutes moving stuff around and started sweating as if I had been working out for an hour .... it's so hot in there.... yucky!.. Which is why I am ashamed to say that I just grab stuff and run, and have let my kids put things back for me.. The end result is this mess...

List of Things To Do

To My Dad

I hope your surgery goes well today and that you have a speedy recovery though I am not there in person I am there with you in spirit.

Big Hugs & Kisses from Amanda & Caitlin

Shibuya

It's 726am and I have been awake since 1045pm, I tried and tried and tried to go back to sleep but I couldn't.. so what did I do?

Laundry 3 Loads --- I then got sidetracked by hunger (because I skipped dinner) and I made for the first time ever.. chicken enchiladas, they were yummy... I skipped folding the laundry now it sits and waits and I am here on the computer blogging about me.. LOL

So after eating and mopping the floor and cleaning the dishes and counters I turned towards my scrapping area and decide to make something.. I made a party hat, and a cone for gifts.. There is a birthday coming up and I am going to fill the cone with goodies.. I might post a sneak peek later.. I really want to get to the store (although it is expensive) and look for some crafting elements to add to my party hat and cone.. Maybe I will do it today on the way back..

Oh yes, I forgot to mention in an hour I have to leave to take an hour and a half train ride to Shibuya then a bus to Chiba (I don't know how long that will take) my daughter Caitlin has a modeling job for a leaflet for a Mall today.. I am hoping it wraps up rather quickly... and that I can find the meeting place which is next to a statue of a Dog? easily.. LOL

You can read about Shibuya here not that we are doing any of that today..

Have a great day everyone!

Prayers

My Mom IM'd me the other day to tell me that my Father is having surgery again for his heart.
(They have been divorced for at least 25 years) My brothers and my sister will be going to visit him in the Hospital. He works in the Oilfields and has most of his life, so he is always working, even when he is suppose to be home he ends up going back out there. After this episode he says he is seriously considering being a Consultant for the company. I wish him the best of luck in that and a speedy recovery.. I am there with him in spirit.. This is one thing that is so tough with being a Military Spouse, when you are stationed away from family and issues arise it is difficult to be the one not to be there.. We are in Japan and my family is in California and Dh's family is in Louisiana.... Please say a little prayer that he'll be ok..

Thanks for listening

Ugghhh.. No Blade

Last week when I was using my Cricut to cut some shapes for a swap I am in, I realized my blade was not doing that great of a job.. After about 20 cuts, it became increasingly difficult to cut through Cardstock..I upped the blade depth and pressure to max and it still would not cut through a piece of CS all the way...

I went searching in my scrapcage which is in disarray, (because I just have been pulling stuff out of there...to hot to be in there crafting) and could not find an extra blade. Thankfully I placed an order for 3 blade packs with my last Creative Express order, now just to wait for the post to arrive. No creating with my Cricut until then, I am so sad.

I need to watch TV more, I did not even know we were in Storm Watch (yes I knew it was raining and windy) until I went to the mini mart and saw a sign... (mental note must watch TV when it is rainy and windy)..

Hopefully there will be no rain today.... Life in Japan

Asakusa - Sensoji Temple

This is the side view of the Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, I believe where I am standing (taking the picture) is known as the Demboin Garden, But I may be mistaken
Sensoji Temple -

Sensoji is Tokyo's oldest temple. Founded in the 7th century and therefore already well established long before Tokugawa settled in Edo, Sensoji Temple is dedicated to Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy, and is therefore popularly called the Asakusa Kannon Temple. According to legend, the temple was founded after two fishermen pulled a golden statue of Kannon from the sea. The sacred statue is still housed in the temple, carefully preserved inside three boxes. Even though it's never on display, an estimated 20 million people flock to the temple annually to pay their respects.
Within the temple is a counter where you can buy your fortune by putting a 100-yen coin into a wooden box and shaking it until a long bamboo stick emerges from a small hole. The stick will have a Japanese number on it, which corresponds to one of the numbers on a set of drawers. Take the fortune, written in both English and Japanese, from the drawer that has your number. But don't expect the translation to clear things up; my fortune contained such cryptic messages as "Getting a beautiful lady at your home, you want to try all people know about this," and "Stop to start a trip." If you find that your fortune raises more questions than it answers or if you simply don't like what it has to say, you can conveniently negate it by tying it to one of the wires provided for this purpose just outside the main hall.
