APRIL MONTHLY CHALLENGE: Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle!
In honor of Earth Day (April 22nd) we would like you to recycle, reuse or repurpose 3 items on your project. For example, cut a shape from junk mail found in your trash can. Reuse something found in a junk drawer, or whatever! Use your creativity! Create a layout, card, altered project, etc.Hello everyone in the Blogosphere if you came here on purpose congrats, if you are here by accident I hope you find something that peaks your interest.
So I decided I might as well go all in if I am going to do a Challenge why not do them both?
This post is going to be graphic heavy **sorry about that**
I thought about this challenge all night and then when my Loris Garden Cartridge came today, it all fell into place after looking at the images.. I love mushrooms, eating them deco mushrooms etc.. so I had to choose these mushrooms..
I opened my Loris Garden and decided to reuse the plastic that the Cartridge was wrapped in so I cut it down to 2 strips and put them aside..
I went into my cabinet searching for a snack and as luck would have it my daughter did not throw away the empty popcorn box so I decided to recycle this on my card. I cut it down to 2 flat pieces but still kept the strips I wasn't using.
I put it on my Imagine mat and chose print & cut the mushrooms at 4" then I used the second piece from the popcorn box and chose print & cut 4" mushroom layers but only the middle layers **the small mushroom and the pink mushroom**
I then took some CTMH Colonial White Cardstock and printed some paper using the print only feature
I painted the plastic (the one from the cartridge) with Tim Holtz Distress Paint China Blue and let it dry, then I ran it through my Cuttlebug using a Tim Holtz Damask embossing folder
I tried just placing this on my card as a background but I didn't like it, then I decided my Mushrooms needed something else, what goes well with mushrooms besides fairies? Butterflies, I used a Stampin Up Butterfly Die and cut the painted embossed plastic..
I then took a strip of left over popcorn box cut it down to fit the card and punched it with a Fiskars punch
I chose a sentiment from {ippity} Quotes a La Happy.
I popped the layers of the mushroom with CTMH 3D Adhesive Foam
I grunged them up and the paper with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Vintage Photo
The sentiment was punch using a Marvy Punch
Stamped with CTMH Cocoa Ink
The bow was string I just had laying around
The butterfly was adhered with a Glue Dot
IPK-135 Quotes a La Happy $21.60
LOWEST prices {ippity} ALLOWS!
So no need to shop around!
