Welcome Emmy to the Creative Team Guest spot for the month of September
My name is Emilia van den Heuvel and I’m from the Netherlands. I’m a mother of two (my daughter Elise – 8 years old and my son Theo – he will be 2 in October). My children are my inspiration. I love to take pictures of them – running around, making silly faces, being adorable.
I began with card making 7 years ago when I was at home looking after my firstborn baby. About 4 years ago I found the wonderful craft of scrapbooking and I’m hooked ever since. I think it is the perfect way of preserving my memories. Every single one of my pages is telling a story, which will always remind my children who they are and who we were as a family.
I am feisty by character and with a good sense of humour and you can see it in all of my creations. I love to do things my way - all of my cards and layouts have loads of handmade embellishments, stamped images with tailor-made colours, hand stitched patterns and fussy cut shapes!
My favourite quote is from Jack London – he said, “You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.” And I'm taking his advice pretty serious! I can find inspiration in almost anything - newspaper ads, blooming flowers, colourful wrappings!
The world is amazing and you just have to keep your eyes wide open!
