I must add an acquaintance I met through WLS Group meeting was having the EGD the same day as myself.
**back story**
I met D at the October meeting she was having a conversation with my husband, at the end of the meeting we exchanged phone numbers..
**back to EGD**
Ok so today I received a pone call from D calling to see how I am after the EGD... (I thought how nice of her) She then proceeds to ask me if I remember seeing her yesterday.. I was like no.. She said she was getting dressed and they had wheeled me in and she asked the Nurses if it was Heather F.. over there and they said yes and she asked if she could see me and they LET her!! LOL
So she comes over and has a conversation with me apparently I hugged her (I am usually not the hugging almost complete strangers type of person, ok I am usually NOT the touchy feel type of person)... So I told her on the phone, "wow really, that is one reason why I do not drink.. I like to be in control of me".. She started laughing and said that was the exact same thing I said to her that day.. OH EM GEE.. I thought it was funny, but it is completely true!
So we talked about our results...
We both have hernias...
We both had to have a biopsy because our blood work showed positive for H-pylori
However D is scheduled to have surgery in December and has been through her psych consult and everything.. Where as I am scheduled tentatively for 25 Jan and have my Psych consult for December..
She is having the RNY as she has had a previous bowel resection where as I am opting for VSG as I have zero co-morbidities that RNY would be beneficial for me.. I know that the weight loss is slower with VSG and some say not as great as RNY but I can not for the life of me get over the "re-sectioning" part of the procedure and the stomach that is not used but still produces ____________ ... Where as the VSG they remove a portion of the stomach and that portion they remove controls the hunger switch, there is no re-sectioning there is just cut and remove.
Anyways we have agreed to try and get together when the kids go back to school next week to watch Twilight, Breaking Dawn Pt 1. Though I have already seen it, with a very talkative 12 year old next to me. I look forward to seeing it in a less crowded theater and with another adult
